Edward Woods Community Centre
TEXTILE WASTE
Nicole Akong created a piece of wall art with a group of 6 – 11 year olds using recycled fabrics and yarns exploring the impact of textile waste and alternative uses of clothes to prevent them going to landfill.
This became an intergenerational project as the senior’s knitting group also helped out!
Sands End Art and Community Centre
AIR POLLUTION
Shona Coyne explored nature and the impact of air pollution with this group of young somalians at Sands End. Many had never done any creative work like this and were introduced to collaging, photography and sun printing.
Sulgrave Youth Club
RECYCLING & CARBON FOOTPRINT
Oliver Smart introduced the junior and intermediate groups year (6 – 10) to the wonders of sculpture through reusing waste plastic materials – drills, glue guns, wire all went into innovative building to create body based art.

Creative Changemakers is an innovative creative arts and youth engagement programme rooted directly within the Hammersmith and Fulham borough.
Together with professional local artists, groups of young people engage with climate change issues affecting their neighbourhoods using the power of collective storytelling and visual art.
We believe that creative exploration gives young people a powerful, lasting voice. Rather than focusing on climate anxiety, Creative Changemakers focuses on community agency, giving the next generation the tools to inspire their peers, spark vital conversations, and drive positive local change.
Our pilot project is funded by the Kings Coronation Youth Fund and supported by Urban Partnerships, working with Edward Woods Community Centre, Sulgrave Youth Club, and Sands End Community Centre.

Join Us in Celebrating ArtsFest!
All three projects had interns aged between 18-25 from the local community attached to the
groups; these will hopefully go on to continue supporting the groups in further projects.
The Changemakers are thrilled to be included in the Askew Road arts festival running from
September the 18 – 25 th where all three projects will be brought together as one exhibition.
