JOY is a new strand of the Hammersmith and Fulham Arts Festival (HF ArtsFest) celebrating local disabled artists within the community. JOY will be showcasing not only those disabled artists already established within the community, but will reach out to emerging disabled artists and those that have not previously been involved in the arts.

In 2018, HF ArtsFest produced its first edition of JOY in partnership with Turtle Key Arts.
It featured a broad range of artists and companies such as Amici, Dance West, Space Productions, Step Change Studios, musicians from The Gate, The Uniques and groups like This New Ground.

JOY was hugely successful and involved 170 artists, 180 participants, 12 performances, 50 workshops and was seen by over 1000 audience members. We believe JOY reached out and touched everyone that took part or witnessed it, whether they were part of the 5 SEN School workshops, the 5 disabled community group workshops, the four-day performance programmes at the Lyric Hammersmith or were part of our Arts Council England funded commission piece ‘Tales of JOY’.

We are currently in the process of planning JOY 2019.
Watch this space for opportunities to take part as a performer, artist or workshop leader.
