Backstage at the V&A’s Performance Collection Tour
The V&A holds one of largest archives relating to the history of performing arts. Rock, pop, ballet, opera, circus, pantomime, puppetry are all covered. One this introductory tour we will explore the stores, and look aspects of the performing arts in the UK, and local area.
Janusz Szpyt, born 1960, is a graduate of the famous Cracow Academy of Fine Arts. He excels in realistic works, depicting wide range of topics, from nude studies to the beautiful landscapes. All his works are underpinned by superb use of oil painting techniques. Several of Szpyt’s works were successfully auctioned by Christie’s Galleries in London.
‘The Velveteen Rabbit’ tells the story of a toy rabbit’s wish to become ‘real’ and how one child makes this happen through love, imagination and nursery magic. We use puppetry and original song to bring this timeless story to life. Followed by a meet and greet of the puppets.

Arts & Crafts Hammersmith - Arts Walk along the Thames
A guided walk about Hammersmith's rich artistic heritage along the River Thames from The William Morris Society museum to Emery Walker’s House, Hammersmith Terrace. This area has been home to many artists including Turner, William Morris and the Arts & Crafts Movement.
For the past two years, we have developed conversations about what it means to feel at home, conversations that took place around familiar objects and images. We have revisited the genre of the still life, referring back to the xenia, paintings and mosaics decorating the walls and floors of the room in which wealthy ancient Greeks welcomed their guests for a first meal. The time frame of this collaborative work allowed for a meshwork of relations to form between very diverse people gathering together to learn a common language. The English art historical term for a group portrait is conversation piece. Conversation piece is the title of a short film produced with the project participants .
