Last year's Unity Day March
H&F Unity Day is back!
You can join us as we come together to celebrate our borough’s diversity and take a stand against racism.
Unity Day has become an annual event after the success of last year, which saw thousands march in protest against a rise in reported hate crime.
“It was wonderful to see so many people last year coming together to show solidarity and celebrate H&F’s diversity,” said H&F’s Mayor, Cllr Mercy Umeh.
“The day was a fantastic example of H&F’s community spirit, the respect we have for each other and clear message that racism will not be tolerated.
“We hope to see you at this year’s Unity Day.”
Like last year, marchers will gather in Shepherds Bush Green before progressing down Goldhawk Road, through Hammersmith and into Ravenscourt Park where a celebration of H&F’s diversity will be held with entertainers and speeches. It will take place on Sunday 11 June.
Last year’s event was headlined by reggae legend Sweetie Irie and featured a speech by Lord Alf Dubs who campaigns to aid refugees and who himself fled from the Nazis to England after the outbreak of the Second World War.
This year’s line-up will be announced soon. It will feature singers, dancers, circus acts and other entertainers who will be joined by speakers representing our diverse community.
There will be stalls selling food from all over the world, and the chance to find out more about the fantastic work of charities and community groups across H&F.
This year’s event will be the culmination of HF ArtsFest. It is the festival’s fourth year which shines a light on the many fantastic performers, arts groups, charities and other community organisations we’re lucky to have in H&F.
The programme will include music, art exhibitions, walking tours, film screenings, drama, comedy, readings, workshops and more. You can find out more at the HF ArtsFest website.
