MARGINAL - photography exhibition

History unfolds with stories being told, some of these remain at the margins.

MARGINAL is a photography exhibition that draws attention to stories of social, political and human relevance happening in parallel, alongside and/or hidden from mainstream narratives.

In recent years, we have seen dramatic changes that have sparked mass migration, extreme weather patterns, disrupted eco-systems and unstable, volatile and dangerous political changes. The nature of these events has contributed to extraordinary social transformation and political upheavals which have forced us to look at stories and people that are often considered as 'marginal'.

Six selected photographers, Chiara Ceolin, Claudia Leisinger, Jonathan Goldberg, Mareike Gunsche, Wamaitha Ng'ang'a and local resident Parveen Ali draw our attention to some of these human stories in need of attention, care and social justice: Roma communities in Europe, the eco-activists living besides Heathrow runaway, child mothers in Tanzania, people living with HIV, women affected by domestic abuse and people affected by rising Islamophobia.

The exhibition is curated by Cinzia D'Ambrosi, a local photojournalist based in Shepherds Bush and founder of the Photojournalism Hub.
